Supported file format: .CSV only. Please convert all your files into a .CSV before attempting to import data using Freshsales.


There are 4 important things that you'd need to know about when you import leads from a .CSV file. They are described in detail below:


Preparing your CSV file

  1. The first row of the CSV file will be treated as the header. Make sure the header rows have all the mandatory columns.

  2. Fields available for mapping

    1. Mandatory fields

      1. User email- Email of the Freshsales user to whom the goal will be assigned 

      2. Goal type- Specify whether it is a User goal or a Team goal

      3. Goal metric- Should be either Deal Value or Deal Count based on whether the goal is measured based on Deal value of won deals or number of won deals respectively.

      4. Goal period- Whether its a Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, or Yearly goal.

      5. Goal start date- This should be either the first day of the week, month, quarter, or year depending on whether the period is weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly.

      6. Goal end date- This should be either the last day of the week, month, quarter, or year depending on whether the period is weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly.

      7. Target- What the target of this goal. (Must be a number)

      8. Team- This field is mandatory when the row contains a team goal

    2. Optional fields

      1. Product- Specify the products if you want to set the goal for only specific products. Leave blank to have the goal for all products.

      2. Territory- Specify the products if you want to set the goal for only specific territories. Leave blank to have the goal for all territories.

      3. Pipeline- Specify the products if you want to set the goal for only specific pipelines. Leave blank to have the goal for all pipelines.


Note: The difference between the Goal start date & Goal end date should be one week, one month, one quarter, or one year depending on the goal period. Ex.: If you are setting a Goal for the month of July 2019, then the Goal start date should be 01-July-2019 and Goal end date should be 31-July-2019.

  1. To import team goals:

    1. You would need to have value as Team under Goal type column and the team name under Team column.

    2. You need to have a row for each team member. In case you miss adding a team member in the CSV, the user won’t be considered as part of the team goals

    3. Summation of individual team members goals will be the team goal


Importing the file


  1. Go to Profile picture > Sales Goals
  2. Click on Add Goals dropdown and select Import goals
  3. Upload the CSV file and hit. This presents you with a mapping screen where you can map the fields in the CSV file with the Freshsales fields.
  4. Clickto commence importing the goals into Freshsales.


Why did some of my data not get imported? (Reasons for failure of data import)

When importing leads, these are the possible reasons for the failure of data import:

  1. Invalid user email: If the user is not present in Freshsales or the email is in incorrect

  2. Wrong goal start date: If Goal start date is greater than Goal end date

  3. Wrong goal end date: If the Goal end date is in the past

  4. Long range: When Goal start date and Goal end date is greater than the goal period
