During lead conversion, all the default lead fields (under Basic Information) are automatically mapped to the default fields of the newly converted contact, account and deals. There are a few fields that become irrelevant (such as Lead stages, Unqualified reason and Territory) when a lead is converted to a contact, so the data in those fields aren’t carried forward.
